best cla supplements + fact that you should know

Before getting to know 10 best CLA supplements, Clinical studies have yielded contradictory results. Positive results were obtained with daily dosages ranging from 3 g to 7 g and administered over the long term.

Description of Conjugated Linoleic Acid CLA supplement review

best cla supplement

Conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) is a derivative of linoleic acid, an essential fatty acid of the family of omega-6. The bacteria present in the rumen of ruminants convert linoleic acid into LCA. For this reason, these compounds are mainly found in milk fat and ruminant meat, including beef and mutton. The mammary glands of these animals also produce CLA directly.

Dairy products, particularly aged cheeses, are relatively rich in CLA, i.e., they contain an average of 5 mg of CLA per gram of fat. However, the milk content in CLA may vary greatly.

The composition of the food CLA differs from that of commercially purchased supplements. Foods generally contain the compounds "trans-10, cis-12" and "cis-9, trans-11" in a proportion of 70% and 30% respectively, while this proportion may vary in supplements. Supplements containing these two compounds were used in equal proportions 1.

CLA 1250 reviews the LCA for commercial supplements is generally derived from laboratory processing of safflower, sunflower or soybean oil.

Food sources of conjugated linoleic acid

The CLA is present in the milk and meat of ruminants: beef, sheep, goat, but there is no comprehensive database on the CLA content of foods.

On the other hand, the human organism seems unable to transform plant linoleic acid from the vegetable source into LCA, at least in significant quantities. In the West, traditional (non-vegetarian) diets would provide only 0.5 g to 1 g of CLA per day, while at least 3 g per day would be needed to derive the therapeutic benefits attributes to him.

Tonalin CLA reviews and Conjugated linoleic acid deficiency

In recent decades, it has been recommended to reduce the dietary intake of animal fats. However, some experts wonder whether this change in the diet does not result in a decrease in the intake of CLA and, on the other hand, whether human health could be affected. At the moment, it is not known what the ideal intake of CLA should be in the diet.

History of Conjugated Linoleic Acid and nature-wise cla 1250 reviews

The CLA was discovered in the 1980s by a group of researchers probing the carcinogens grilled beef. Rather, the CLA revealed anti-cancer properties, which resulted in extensive in vitro and animal research.

LCA supplements only appeared in the late 1990s. These compounds were first used in veterinary medicine to improve the muscle/fat mass ratio of livestock (more muscle, less fat). It was then realized that these compounds acted on the body in the manner of certain drugs used for the treatment of diabetes.

Research on Conjugated Linoleic Acid

Effectiveness Relationship between muscle mass and adipose mass. Animal studies show that CLA results in a marked decrease in body fat and an increase in muscle mass. The mechanisms of action are not yet clear and may differ from one animal species to another. In humans, despite contradictory results, it appears that CLA has a small but significant effect 2-6.

A meta-analysis published in 2007 concluded that the intake of 3.2g of CLA per day results in a reduction of body fat, even if it is modest (about 1 kg in 10 weeks) 3. However, the studies published since then are not so conclusive 1.

In some studies, the effect of LCA on fat mass may vary depending on the overweight and age of the subjects: it reduces it slightly or has no effect 7, 8. The sex of participants in these studies, their genetic predisposition to accumulate fat and their nationality are also confounding factors that may explain variations. For example, most trials indicating loss of body fat or weight were carried out in Norway and Sweden 1.

Note. Reduction in body fat by taking CLA does not cause significant weight loss 1. In studies where a decrease in adipose mass was observed, muscle mass increased in the same proportion in the vast majority of cases.

Metabolic syndrome and diabetes. The results of preliminary studies conducted on animals revealed that supplementation with CLA may increase insulin resistance, adverse effects, or normalize the metabolism of glucose, a beneficial effect 9, 10.

Best cla for women

In human studies, CLA had no beneficial effect on blood glucose 11-14. In people with obesity, CLA even increased glucose levels and insulin resistance 15, 16.According to Swedish researchers, it is the trans-10, cis-12 compound of ALC supplements that causes this undesirable effect. It goes against certain potentially cardioprotective effects of CLA (see below) 17-20.

Increased muscle mass. Intake of conjugated linoleic acid and creatinine facilitate gain of muscle mass and strength in individuals subjected to a physical drive 21. Among the elderly, the combination of these supplements and physical activity would counteract the loss of muscle mass, which is often associated with aging 22.

Reduced blood lipid levels. Studies on human beings lead to divergent, even contradictory results. Some of them show that CLA can raise the level of good cholesterol (HDL) 15; others it reduces the triglyceride levels without affecting LDL or HDL 13; others that it is slightly down on total cholesterol 23 and could even lead to a slight decrease in HDL 24, 18. Finally, two studies conclude that CLA has no effect on the blood lipid profile 25, 12.

Modulation of the immune system. Studies in vitro and in animals suggest that CLA is positively certain immune mechanisms 26. By modulating the action of certain chemical messengers, CLA would alleviate the inflammatory reaction and could also limit the allergic reaction (hypersensitivity) by reducing the production of certain antibodies (IgE). However, clinical studies conducted to date on humans yield contradictory results that do not support these claims 27-32.

In the absence of complete toxicological data, pregnant women, children, and people with liver problems should not exceed the normal dietary intake of CLA, i.e., approximately 1 g per day.

Pregnancy and breast feeding. In a recent study of nine pregnant women, an additional 1.5 mg of CLA per day reduced the fat content of breast milk 33.

Side effects

Gastrointestinal disorders and fatigue

In diabetic subjects, the form "trans-10, cis-12" of CLA found in supplements could increase the sugar levels in the blood and insulin resistance 15. In other studies, researchers found an increase in insulin resistance in obese 17-20 subjects who took an ALC supplement containing only the compound "trans-10, cis-12". During one of these trials, this compound also reduced the level of good cholesterol (HDL) 18 slightly. A recent trial involving 40 subjects also found that taking a supplement commercially available (4.5 g daily) for 12 weeks could hurt the flexibility of the arteries 34.
